Garlough Students Sing their Hearts Out!
Congratulations to all the sweet voices of Garlough students in grades 1-4, as well as our music teacher, Ms. Julie Bomstad for orchestrating (no pun intended?) the concert on May 2nd. The concert was a highlight of the year for our music students, as music is a spark that connects us culturally. Keep a song in your heart as we finish the year!

Garlough Hosts 2013 Odyssey of the Mind Minnesota State Tournament
Creativity was on everyone's mind On Saturday, April 6, as Garlough hosted the Odyssey of the Mind MN State Tournament. The tournament was a huge success for all. Last year there were only 15 teams at the tournament, but OM has grown in our state and this year 28 teams came to participate. There were 7 schools from around the state who were here including 3 from our own district. Garlough, Somerset, and Mendota sent teams to show off their Long-Term Problem solutions.
This year Garlough had 4 teams attend the tournament and all 4 teams came home with a trophy. We had two teams place 1st and two teams place 3rd. All of the GEMS teams are eligible to move on to the World Finals being held on May 22-25, at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. Say Congratulations to our GEMS OMers!
The OMER's Award was presented to Sheryl Kasella, 4th grade teacher and OM Coordinator at GEMS, for helping to secure Garlough as the site for the MN State Tournament and going beyond what is asked in Odyssey of the Mind.
