Hello!  My name is Heather Wilsey and I graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Madison and then earned a Master's Degree from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities.

I began my teaching career in ISD 197 at Pilot Knob Elementary School.  I taught kindergarten for 2 years before moving to Crossroads Elementary School in St. Paul.  After teaching kindergarten for 3 years, my husband and I decided to expand our worldview by becoming Peace Corps volunteers in Ecuador.
Upon our return to the states, I taught Spanish at Pilot Knob and Somerset Elementary schools. Then I had an opportunity to work at Garlough Elementary School as a Title I teacher with Spanish speaking students.
My husband was then accepted into a doctorate program at the University of Florida while I worked at a science and technology magnet school.  I taught 1st grade, Gifted and Talented, then looped up to 3rd grade.
We then moved to Duluth, MN where I had the pleasure of staying home with our daughters for 5 years while working part-time at a preschool.
We are now back in the twin cities, and I am thrilled to be back at GEMS.

During my free time, I enjoy hiking, jogging, reading and camping.  Our family enjoys biking and being outside collecting artifacts and investigating the world around us.
