Welcome to GEMS
In the Fall of 2007, our school officially became Garlough Environmental Magnet School – GEMS, for short. Working in partnership with Dodge Nature Center, we have developed a rigorous academic environmental studies program emphasizing science, technology and math. GEMS offers the same rigorous core curriculum as the district's other elementary schools with the nature-based theme woven throughout all subjects and integrated into how our classes are taught. Through their participation in exciting, hands-on projects, our students move past just "knowing" something to a point where deep understanding occurs. We invite you to explore both our website and our school to learn more about this innovative school of excellence.
